A summer wedding at the Plantation on Sunnybrook
A beautiful July day, a venue filled with perfectly vintage quirks, and some of my favorite vibrant & wild florals of the season. Katie + Tom were also the first couple to ever have me come along to document parts of their rehearsal dinner, which happened to be on the open-air rooftop (!) of Center in the Square in downtown Roanoke, and spending the evening before their wedding with these two overlooking the city I grew up in was just a little surreal. On top of all of that, Katie’s father’s bluegrass band soundtracked that evening, including an Avett Brothers cover dedicated to these two, so… you could say I was very enamored with their awesome community and felt a special connection with all of these people from the get-go.
Jumping into their Plantation on Sunnybrook wedding day the following morning, there were so many moments that still stick with me, from Katie + her dad’s adorable first look on through my only sparkler exit of the year. It was a whirlwind without a single dull moment, but I love these two and I’m so glad this weekend was so freakin’ lovely.
Without further ado, this is the story of their celebration.
